Tash's Movement Limited opens the new year by welcoming Stereo Munk to the label for his debut EP. Based in Pakistan, Stereo Munk would establish himself within the country's electronic music scene through early releases via Massive Harmony Records and Zephyr Music. Often finding a creative balance between progressive and organic house, the Islamabad resident has since taken his superlative sound to well established imprints such as Hoomidaas, Juicebox Music, Mango Alley, Nature Rec and more, while earning support from genre trendsetter Hernan Cattaneo. Also finding a home on Movement Recordings, Stereo Munk would make his label debut in 2022 with a contribution to the label's popular 'Technical Progress' series. Now, as 2024 gets underway, Stereo Munk adds label affiliate Movement Limited to his resume with a two-track showcase entitled 'Reflex'. Stereo Munk continues to explore his unique cross-genre style on the lead selection 'Reflex'. Fluid and energetic throughout, it's a framework of warm kick drums and chunky bass tones which lay the foundation for flashing percussion, flickering arps and inviting pads to create a groovy first act. Acid-like lines emerge across the main break, adding a dose of funk and character into the mix, bringing with them anticipatory vibes, as a nostalgic drum roll sets the course for an uplifting club-effective finale. The funked-up foray 'Infusion' follows and further cements Stereo Munk's dancefloor minded ethos. Its rippling drive is anchored by powerful beats and a clever coax of percussive splashes; nicely accented with vocal-stabs, clustered bass fills and a panoramic soundscape to tie it all together. A vocal-led narrative proves to be the most enchanting element however, tastefully building to a charming intensity to round out the release on a high note.
