Tash's Movement Recordings opens the new year by welcoming Weird Sounding Dude back to the label for his debut EP. As one of India's rising musical mavericks, Weird Sounding Dude has emerged from his country's electronic landscape as a premiere progressive house talent. Long a favourite of genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J and Cid Inc, the Bangalore resident often touches on disparate themes and sounds, straddling the divide between intergalactic design and groove-centric hypnotism. With a career that now spans a decade, Weird Sounding Dude has compiled an impressive discography with standout releases via Anjunadeep, Hoomidaas, The Soundgarden and Sudbeat Music. Movement Recordings has also been a landing spot for the scene veteran, with a contribution to the label's ‘GLBLMVMT3 - Exploring India' collection marking his debut in 2020, a project which would lead to a 2021 remix of Not Demure's ‘Aifos'. Now, as 2023 begins to take shape, Weird Sounding Dude returns to Movement Recordings with a two-track showcase entitled ‘Fallen Poet'.

The title selection finds Weird Sounding Dude composing with a strong sense of rhythm and groove. Beginning with a smooth pulse, its smoky resonance eventually reveals a backbone of monolithic beats and thunderous bass stabs. Instantly seductive, it's this muscular framework which provides the vehicle for panoramic textures and dissonant synth blasts to work their magic, ultimately resulting in a resounding dance floor escapade.

Meanwhile, the companion piece ‘Lost Ark' lands with an equally impressive display of craftsmanship, as Weird Sounding Dude reaffirms his ability to tip a dancefloor over the edge. Mountainous grooves and clever rhythmic co-actions underpin a fascinating blend of striking chord stabs, balmy atmospherics and muted piano's, the latter of which provides a heartfelt interlude, before confidently returning to the groove for a heads down finale.
